On January 2nd 2019- I met a 3 week old baby goat named Vincent Van Goat who had been saved from slaughter. I immediately fell in love and became a regular volunteer at the sanctuary at which he lived. I helped bottle feed him and helped raise him for one year. Because he didn’t have any other goat babies or a goat mommy goat to bond with- we bonded. I was his mommy, he was my baby boy. He brought me more joy and healing than I can verbalize. The bond between us was - IS- indescribable other than to call it endless unconditional love 💕
At the time I met him, I was recovering from a total hysterectomy due to endometriosis and adenomyosis. I called him “my kid that’s a kid “. I found over the year we were together that our relationship was more than just cuteness, cuddles, kisses and laughter- it was healing. I am disabled with several chronic illnesses that cause constant pain; I found that when I was with him- I actually FELT BETTER. I was able to do more, I could forget my pain, I smiled with my whole heart and I experienced first hand the power of animal therapy. It was amazing!
My love for Vincent is endless and unwavering. I tried to adopt my sweet baby boy more than once, but the sanctuary feels that letting him live anywhere other than the sanctuary would go against their mission statement. I miss him terribly- but my love for him is the fuel and inspiration for me creating this safe haven. Because of our beautiful relationship, Vincent's Place will be a place of healing for both goats and humans alike!
